(September 18, 2016)
Utter Motorsports descended upon the historic Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa on September 15-17 for the 13th Annual 'Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals.' The three-day crown jewel event, which was sanctioned once again by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series, drew 69 competitors to the sprawling 1/2-mile speedplant and things got underway in the Hawkeye State with a pair of $7,000 to win preliminary showdowns.

On Thursday night, Jason Utter blew out his right rear tire in his heat race and hit the wall, which forced him to scratch from the remainder of the program. At Knoxville on Friday evening, Jason unfortunately missed out on the 25-lap feature after running sixth in his heat race and twentieth in the B-Main. When Saturday rolled around at the Marion County fairgrounds complex, all eyes were fixated on the $40,000 to win 'Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals.' The Columbus Junction, Iowa native finished nineteenth in the B-Main and subsequently was unable to transfer into the 100-lapper, which was won by Mike Marlar. Winning Races a Priority for Utter as New MLRA Season Nears!
By Lyndal Scranton
(February 10, 2016)
Jason Utter's 2015 dirt Late Model season was rock solid, with a dozen top-five finishes and 16 top-10s in 31 starts. That consistency led to a career-best third-place finish in the Lucas Oil Midwest Late Model Racing Association standings. Certainly it was a year that many gladly would have embraced.

But as a new season nears, the Iowa corn farmer is willing to trade some of that consistency for celebratory trips to victory lane. "We're gonna try and win more races instead of trying to run for points," Utter said earlier this week from his home in Columbus Junction, Iowa.

Utter said "we came out all right" in evaluating last season, but said he became a bit too conservative. "I kind of got caught up in that points deal and I was content with running second, third or fifth when I probably should have moved up the track and got up on the cushion and let it hang out," Utter added. "So I think we'll go for more wins this year." | more
